I agree that when your boss gets to know or understands that you are there to provide the needed assistance when it matters, he will take you as part of him.

Interesting discussion particularly as I have stepped up into a new role, in a new company and have to work with the FD as my boss. Building trust and supporting her in her role will be key to succeeding.
