This topic is particular relevant to the teams that I am managing now and also my peers as we are quite a diversed team in culture and age.

I have noticed that it's particularly challenging to managing the younger team member especially as our team is primarily remote base.

There's one particular statement from this article really resonates with me was 'always make it clear to the staff 'we are working as a group from different backgrounds' and ages really in my case.

A lot of the issues were often pure miscommunications due to age / experiences / cultural differences which had created a certain level of arrogance amongst various team members and in my situation, 2 of my team members had to go through HR mediation process in order to attempt to resolve their differences and at the end, it didn't really work out.

The background of team members will have their own mother tongue language. It is important to make sure all communicate in one language, English and as a manager, it is important to make sure the team members understand the task assigned to them.

It is important to understand the process of each department, this will help to eliminate non-value-adding activities and to deliver the right requirements. Also, this will increase the business partnering within the company.

As a manager, it will be good to have weekly catch-ups with staff members, which will increase engagement and listen to their concerns where we can make small changes if necessary to increase productivity.

Effectively managing the team will increase staff satisfaction and organisational productivity.
