Very useful video looking at risk in the supply chain - which highlighted some useful points. I have not focussed greatly on risk in the past but is something I would like to look at more closely here in our Company.

I will be meeting up with our Senior Purchasing Manager from our Ship Management subsidiary in Poland tomorrow (looking after crewing and technical maintenance of the ships). I will take a couple of points from the video and discuss these with him. I can then also follow up these points with our Risk Manager here in London.

How does he assess the risk of our suppliers - especially those supplying critical parts for the ships?

Does he analyse suppliers by country and rank them in order of risk?

I know that collaboration with suppliers is a high priority but I will ask him what his policy is in relation to developing close working partnerships with our suppliers?

Is there a formal supply chain risk reporting strategy and system in place - and if not, shall we work together to put something in place?

Jan 2016 - I had a chat wth the Senior Purchasiing Manager at the Christmas Party. I diiscovered that there is some risk reporting in place, but we will be reviewing ans improving the risk reporting systems in early 2016

I am going to incorporate some of the recommendations made by the Sedex CEO. I am going to do an exercise mapping our organisations supply chain, and then performing a risk assessment and putting together a risk management plan for risks identified.
