It is very true leadership , direction and targets go hand in hand but most often in SME's the leaders forget that there are very limited resources available to fulfil the targets. First of all one needs to understand the resources available, listen and engage with the company before targets can be set within the environment they are working in.

There is a fine line between entrepreneurship and leadership vs ownership and authority.

Good Material on Leadership.

I really liked the definition on leadership which I really think is perfect:
Setting Direction
Setting Targets
Allocate Resources
Motivate People

It is also interesting the part relating how to be a Leader:
Engaging, Be Visible, Talk but Listen at the same time, Show that you care

Good Leader is not afraid to take risk, to make mistake, learn from the mistake and move forward.

My biggest reflection from this interview is the need to be visible and to engage with the organisation. It is not acceptable to sit in an office communicating by er-mail and firing off reports and attending only meetings. A leader must continually talk and also listen - BE VISIBLE.
