The development & radical growth of new technologies & ways of working are making complaisant workers redundant.
Continuing to "do what you do" & remain within your comfort zone can be a positive move for those managing staff within SMEs.  Companies going through rapid expansion or those who already operate on a global footprint will be looking to new technologies to streamline tasks & reduce headcount.
Finance staff must always look to upskill, multi-task & expand their knowledge through new & challenging assignments. 
There is a definite need to future proof our careers & avoid falling under the radar & giving our positions away to new tech.

I think the key here is to never get complacent about your current role and to always seek those improvement opportunities and steps outside of your comfort zone.  Sometimes its so easy to get settled into one opportunity so to take the time to reset and challenge yourself is always good.
