The debate is now focused on the interplay between corporate governance and company success. They cross at a point where what matters is whether – and how – a company has created value for its owners. Corporate governance,defined as “the system by which the owners of the corporation ensure that it pursues,does not deviate from and only allocates resources to its defined purpose” (LSE and RSM Robson Rhodes,2004),has become an ubiquitous topic here in Europe and even more so in the US. We aim to outline the main features of strategic planning and decision-making, as well as how the chosen strategies can be delivered via integrated performance management systems and changes to organisational culture and structure.
